We are living in the geological epoch known as the Anthropocene. It describes how humanity has become the greatest force shaping our planet and its nature. One might assume that this means we live in a world perfectly tailored to human needs.

During my school years, I was fascinated by fictional worlds – from films, video games, manga, and beyond. I identified with many of the characters and drifted into daydreams. A simple escape from the dull suburban everyday life.

Although these worlds offered a temporary way out, I now believe that my excessive immersion in them did little to help my situation. Back then, I couldn’t have known how profoundly nature untouched by the Anthropocene would one day affect me. Perhaps it simply wasn’t the case yet. To me, the human-made world stands as proof that our lives are no longer in harmony with nature.

We have lost our way.
